Every coach gets the same question several times a week. "Which breast pump should I buy?" "Which yoga mat do you use?" "Is there a book you recommend?"
You answer it in DMs, one person at a time, and the store gets the sale. With an affiliate link, you answer it once and earn a small commission each time somebody buys on your recommendation.
This guide covers how that works in India, what it pays, how to disclose it properly, and where to put the links so clients actually use them.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is an ordinary product link with your ID attached. When somebody taps it and buys, the store pays you a percentage of the sale. The buyer pays the same price either way.
The common options for Indian coaches:
- Amazon Associates (affiliate-program.amazon.in): the biggest catalogue. Commission varies by category, typically a few percent for baby, health and sports products. Purchases usually count only within 24 hours of the click.
- EarnKaro: one app that turns links from Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, FirstCry and many others into your earning link. Easiest place to start if you have never done this.
- Wishlink: built for creators, strongest in fashion and beauty.
- Brand programmes: many baby, yoga and wellness brands give creators their own link and discount code. Often the best rate, and the code gives your clients something too.
What it actually pays
Be realistic. At around 5 percent, a ₹500 water bottle earns you about ₹25. A ₹8,000 breast pump earns about ₹400. Affiliate income for most coaches is a useful extra, not a salary.
The real benefit is time. A page of your picks answers the same question you answer every day, and it does it at 11pm when you are asleep.
That is why it works best in fields where advice naturally ends in a purchase: lactation and pregnancy, yoga and fitness, nutrition, parenting, art and craft, and content creation.
Disclose it, every time
ASCI's guidelines for influencer advertising in India expect a clear label when you earn from a recommendation. A commission is exactly that kind of connection.
The label should come before the click, not hidden at the bottom of a page. Plain words work best: "Some of these are affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you."
Clients do not mind. What damages trust is finding out later.
Use your own photos
Amazon's Associates agreement limits how its product images can be used outside its own tools. The simple answer is to photograph the product yourself, ideally in use. It is allowed, and a real photo from your own home or studio is far more convincing than a catalogue image.
Say why, in one line
The store page already has the specifications. What it cannot have is you. "The one I suggest to working mothers. Quiet, strong suction, easy to clean." That one line is why somebody taps your link instead of searching the store and buying the first result.
Where to put the links
A list of links in a notes app does nothing. Clients need to find them in the places they already look:
- Your link in bio. The first place anybody goes after a reel.
- Your DMs. When somebody comments a keyword like PUMP, an automatic DM with the link answers them in seconds.
- After a session. Your client just heard you recommend it. Send the link while it is fresh.
The problem most coaches hit is two links in bio: one for bookings and one for products, usually Linktree. Every extra link loses people.
One page for both
On Klippme, Recommends puts your product picks on the same page clients book you from. Paste your Amazon, Flipkart, FirstCry, EarnKaro or Wishlink link and Klippme recognises the store and labels the button. Add your photo, a line on why you like it, a price and a promo code visitors copy with one tap. Star your favourite and it shows as a large card at the top.
Visitors go straight to your link, so the store credits you exactly as normal, and Klippme never takes a cut. You see clicks per product, and sales show in your affiliate dashboard. Every product you mark as an affiliate link carries a visible Affiliate tag that explains the commission when tapped.
Recommends is included on Growth (10 products) and Pro (unlimited, with daily clicks per product), and in the free trial. See how Recommends works, or pair it with Instagram Auto-DM so a comment gets the link automatically.
